This test is not recommended as a follow up test for abnormal newborn screening for galactosemia.

Screening for disorders showing increased excretion of fructose and galactose. If qualitative result is suggestive of an elevation of galactose, quantitative testing will be performed at an additional charge.


Rarely, xylose may be detected which indicates a benign condition known as hereditary pentosuria.
