Test Classification Updates

Analytical tests offered by Mayo Clinic Laboratories are classified according to US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA's) review status of the test kit or reagent and its use. Tests that are not authorized by the FDA are validated by Mayo Clinic in a manner consistent with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment of 1988 (CLIA) . In addition, individual tests may fall under FDA enforcement discretion.
